3-Wheeled Mobility Scooter 3 Speed 4-6-16 MPH
Description
So, I’ve got this old 3-wheeled mobility scooter I used for about 18 months before I stopped using it. It’s a retro-style model, not the fancy modern ones—just a solid, basic one with a 3-speed setup and top speed of 16mph. It’s been sitting covered for a while now, and I figured I’d give it a go at selling it, mostly because it’s not working right anymore. It’s not moving when I turn it on—lights work fine, but no movement. I’ve checked the batteries (six 12V 15-20Ah units) and they were in good shape when I pulled them out, charged separately, and held strong voltage after a few weeks. I put them back in, and it just didn’t start. I’ve been thinking—maybe a wire got missed when I reconnected them, or something’s come loose in the motor. I don’t know for sure.
The motor’s probably worth around £800 on its own, and the whole thing could be worth over £1,000 if it were fixed and running. I’ve actually bought a few of the same batteries from AliExpress—same size, same voltage, under £40 each. UK dealers charge £80+ for the same thing, so I figured it’s worth sharing that.
I’m not offering it as a “ready-to-use” thing—there’s definitely work needed. If you’re interested in fixing it up, you could probably get it going with a bit of troubleshooting and some parts. If you just want parts or don’t mind it being in a non-running state, that’s fine too.
Important notes:
- Only collection in Oxford, Oxfordshire
- Viewing days: Thursdays, Fridays, or Saturdays — late afternoons only
- No warranty, no tax, no road legal status (it’s a mobility scooter, so it’s within legal speed limits of 4–6–16 mph)
- I can’t hold it for anyone—first come, first served
- All contact is via email (I’ll send you a time and address)
- No contact on eBay, so I can’t reach people through there
If you’re thinking of using it or just taking parts, feel free to reach out. I’ve given as much detail as I can—just don’t expect it to work right out of the box. It’s not a bargain price, more like a “here’s something I’m letting go of because it’s not working” kind of deal. But I did keep the batteries and the motor, so it’s not totally junk.
Let me know if you’re interested—I’m happy to chat.
