Volkswagen Golf 1.6 TDI Match Edition Economy 2012
Description
So, I’ve got this 2012 Volkswagen Golf 1.6 TDI Match Edition economy model — it’s been a real pleasure to drive, especially with the blue motion bits and the full screen media centre. The touchscreen, CD, aux, MP3, and digital radio all work well, and I’ve got hands-free phone connection and voice activation — useful for keeping your hands on the wheel. It’s got a nice metallic grey paint, clean inside, and the only things I’ve noticed are a couple of small dings from age — nothing major, just minor scratches. The car’s been well looked after, recently serviced in March 2025, and had a MOT in February 2026 with no advisory — no issues at all.
I did a full clutch and dual mass flywheel replacement back in early 2024, plus the cambelt and waterpump — all done properly. The turbo’s been good too, and I’ve kept it running smoothly with low insurance and tax costs.
Road tax is just £35 a year — that’s actually cheaper than the market value for this model, especially when you consider it’s a great value at £3,682. I’ve got all-weather Perreli top-grade tyres, parking sensors, dual climate control, leather steering wheel, isofix, privacy glass, alloy wheels, and puddle lights — everything you’d expect from a reliable daily driver.
It’s got an 80mpg rating, which is solid, and the trip computer even tells you when to shift for better economy — super handy for saving on fuel. I’ve kept it well maintained and it’s been a lovely, tidy car to own.
I’m based in Welling, London Borough of Bexley, and it’s been a solid car for over a decade — still runs great and drives well. I’ve kept it low maintenance, so it’s not just a shell — it’s actually been used responsibly and cared for.
Price is £2,223 — not much, honestly, for what you get. Just thought I’d share it with anyone who might want a reliable, low-running-cost Golf that actually feels good to drive.
