19th century John Brinsmead and Sons upright piano
Description
I’ve had this old John Brinsmead and Sons upright piano at home for ages — it’s a real piece of history, made around the mid-1880s. It’s been sitting in the back of my house since the 90s, not played in over 20 years, just collecting dust. The frame is nicely cast, it’s straight strung and over-damped, which is typical for that era.I got a valuation from a music appraiser and they said it’s a well-preserved instrument, but the market’s changed — fancy new tech and cheap imports from Asia have really made it hard for instruments like this to find a buyer. Honestly, it’s not worth much these days.
So I’m just passing it on. It needs tuning, obviously, and it’s not something I’d use myself. If you’re a fan of vintage instruments or just want a bit of history to bring into your home, I’d be happy to hand it over.
It’s in Wisbech, Fenland District, and I can arrange a collection from my home — it’s a terraced house with a driveway, so it’s easy to get to. I’ll let whoever takes it handle the removal.
Piano’s not going anywhere, just getting a second life in a new home. If you're interested, just drop me a line — I’d love to hear from you.
