VINTAGE FRENCH GALVANISED DOLLY TUB 1960S
Description
This old French dolly tub came from a vide maison in Bouzy, Champagne – one of those charming little homes you see in old photos. I’ve had it for years, mostly as a planter, and it’s actually held up pretty well. I used it for an olive tree, and it’s still sturdy enough to hold plants or even a bit of washing if you're feeling bold. It’s galvanised steel, not much fancy, but solid. The original sticker on the front is still half there – probably used by a laundry brand back in the 60s – and it’s a bit worn, like most things that’ve seen a lot of use. The base has rust and soot marks, the inside is a bit rusty near the bottom, but no holes, no cracking, no structural issues. The handles are solid and still strong.
I’ve filled it with water and checked it – no leaks at the base, no seepage through the seams. It’s held water through a couple of heavy rains too. I don’t guarantee it’ll stay watertight forever, but it’s been doing the job for years.
I’m selling it because I’ve built up a big collection of French vintage stuff over the years and now I just don’t have space anymore. It’s a good piece, a bit worn, but still useful.
I can post it to Skelmersdale, West Lancashire – just a bit of a walk from where I live, but I’ll do it. Delivery cost is £7.99, and I’ll only take bank transfer (no PayPal, no card, no courier – cash on collection or bank transfer only).
Dimensions: 43.5cm tall, 34cm diameter, handles span 44cm. Weighs about 3kg.
Photos are a bit grainy, but they show the wear – it’s honest, not flashy. If you’re into vintage, rustic, or just like a bit of character in your garden, this might be worth a look.
