Description

This Royal Doulton “Old Salt” teapot (D6818, 1988) is one of those things I just couldn’t part with — it’s got a real charm, and I’ve had it in my kitchen for years. The sea captain with his net and the mermaid spout? Pure 80s whimsy, but it still looks great on the shelf or in the sink when I’m brewing. William K. Harper designed it, and it’s about 7 inches tall and wide — not huge, but just right. I’ve kept it in great shape, no chips or damage at all. It’s not flashy, but it’s the kind of thing that makes your tea time feel a little more special. I’ve only ever used it a few times, mostly for afternoon cups with friends. I’m moving to Ambleside, Westmorland and Furness soon and don’t really need it around anymore. It’s sitting in a cupboard now, but I’m letting it go because I’m starting fresh. Price is £27 — it’s not much, but it’s a solid piece with a bit of history. If you’re into quirky, vintage-style teapots, this might just be the one you’ve been looking for.
