So, I’ve been keeping this car for a few years now — it’s a 2012 Golf 1.6 TDI, and honestly, it’s been a solid driver. I’ve never really had to worry about major repairs, thanks to a full service history that goes back years. It’s been properly looked after — not just the usual oil changes, but proper maintenance at key points, like when the cambelt and water pump were replaced a few times.

Last time it was done in May 2025, at 137,317 miles — that was after a few more updates, including front and rear brake work in 2025 and 2024. The EGR valve and gaskets were replaced in 2023, and shocks and springs got a good overhaul around 2021 and 2022.

Mileage is now at 138,692 — it’s been a steady driver, mostly on the road, not the track. I’ve driven it regularly and it’s always been reliable. It’s got air conditioning, parking sensors, alloy wheels, and a space saver spare. ABS and safety belt pretensioners are both working fine.

The MOT is valid until December 2025, and there’s been no advisories — so I’m confident it’s in great shape. I’ll have a new MOT done when I sell it, and the tax is £35 a year.

It’s a manual, so it’s not fancy, but it’s got a real feel to it — you can actually feel the connection with the road. I’ve kept it in good hands, and it’s never been a show car — just a dependable daily driver.
