Vintage French Wooden 8-Drawer Spice Rack

I’m selling this old French wooden spice rack — it’s one of those chippy, hand-made things I found in a Vide Maison in Lusigny sur Barse back in the day. It’s been sitting in my kitchen for years, never really got around to hanging it, so now it’s time to go.

It’s an 8-drawer cabinet with four shelves — top shelf, then a deeper one, another deeper one, and a narrow slot at the bottom. I think it’s pine, though I’m not 100% sure. It looks like it might have been built over time — some of the joints are a bit loose, corners are worn, and there’s a little gap near the top where a shelf used to be, judging by the old nail holes.

The drawers are all hand-made, rough pine, and there are pencil notes on them — like “Haut Gauche” or “Bas Gauche” — which tells me the original owner probably used it a lot. The brass handles are screwed on, secure, and it’s got two metal hangers for wall mounting. I’ve cleaned it, waxed it, and treated it to make sure no woodworm was lurking — nothing to worry about.

It’s not a perfect piece, definitely not something you’d find in a fancy artisan shop — there’s some chippy spots, a few corners with chips, and some wear. But it’s solid, doesn’t wobble, and still fits together well. I know it’s not pristine, but it’s been loved and used, and it has that nice, lived-in patina.

It’s 65cm tall, 46cm long, and about 15cm deep — weighs in at around 5.6kg. The wine bottle and spice jars in the photos are just for scale — nothing else is included.

It’s just the rack — no jars, no extras. I’ve been collecting French vintage kitchen stuff for years, and now I’ve run out of space. This one’s going to a new home where it’ll either stand proudly or hang nicely on the wall.
