William Stodart & Son Square Piano
Description
This old William Stodart & Son square piano is a bit rough around the edges but has real character. It was made for the royal family, I think — might be around 1840, though I'm not 100% sure. The rear legs are loose, keys are missing, and it needs new strings. The key for the lock is gone too. It’s not in great condition, but it has that old-school dignity you can feel when you look at it.It’s quite big — 166cm long, 77cm high, 60cm deep, and the case is 23.5cm thick. The lid is 94cm across. I found it in a storage space in Lyndhurst, New Forest, and it’s not something I'm planning to use, so it’s just sitting there.
It’s not a showpiece, but it’s a rare piece with history. If you’re into vintage pianos or just want to see what old instruments look like, it’s worth a look. Buyer needs to arrange pickup — no delivery. I’m not sure how much it’s worth, but it’s definitely not expensive. Thought I’d share it in case someone finds it interesting.
