Saab 9-3 Estate 2008 with 1910cc turbo diesel

This Saab 9-3 Estate from 2008 is a solid, reliable machine I’ve actually kept in the garage for over 15 years – it’s been my go-to for years, even through a lot of bad weather and long drives. I’ve been a mechanic for over 35 years, so I know what to look for and I’ve done proper work on it over the years.

The last six months saw a full overhaul: new timing belt and water pump, front and rear brakes (discs and pads), new shocks and springs all around. Also replaced the anti-drop links front and back, and two new suspension arms. I’ve got fresh front tyres on it – they’re solid, no drama.

Paint’s not perfect – the front wing and one back quarter need a bit of touch-up work. I actually bought paint for that, but just never got around to it. Now that I’ve got a campervan, I’m not using it much anymore.

It’s still MOT’d until January next year, and has both manual and automatic gear – plus paddle shift for when I want to get fancy. I’ve used it for everything from weekend trips to long hauls, and it’s never let me down.
