Shergold Masquerader SM-01 Solid Battleship Grey
Description
Got this Shergold Masquerader SM-01 in Solid Battleship Grey — it’s one of those guitars that just feels like it belongs in a classic rock band. The body’s solid mahogany, with a high-gloss finish that gives it a sharp, polished look, and it’s got a hand burnished rosewood neck that’s smooth to the touch. The rosewood fingerboard has nice binding and those hand-inlaid aluminium fret markers make it easy to play without feeling like you’re hitting anything sharp. It’s got a Seymour Duncan SP90 in the neck and a TB-4 in the bridge — both USA-made — which gives it a warm, punchy tone with plenty of bite. The bridge is a custom PJE design, and the setup is clean with compensated brass saddles and locking machine heads that stay tight. The knobs are black with silver caps, and the hardware is chrome, which matches the guitar’s solid, no-nonsense vibe.
I bought it a few years ago and it’s been a solid companion in my practice sessions. It’s got a 648mm scale, 305mm fingerboard radius — not too curved, not too flat — and weighs in at 3.18kg, which feels just right. The neck is bolt-on, which means it’s stable and easy to maintain.
I live in Wilnecote on Watling Street, so if you’re local or coming up through the Midlands, I can probably arrange a meet-up. If you’re further away, I’ll send a quote — just let me know.
I’m not a guitar expert, but I’ve played it for years and honestly, it’s one of those instruments that just clicks with your playing style. All the photos are mine — taken in my own studio — so you know exactly what you’re seeing.
It’s not flashy, but it has a real character. The colour and build feel like something from the 70s, but it’s been updated with modern touches — and it still sounds like it belongs in a rock or blues setup.
I’m not selling it to just anyone — I’ve kept it for a long time, and now it’s time to part with it. If you’re into vintage-style guitars with a bit of soul, this might just be your kind of thing.
Price is £625.50 — if you're serious, I can go over it in more detail.
