2000 Mazda MX-5 1.8 2dr Convertible Petrol Manual
Description
So this is my 2000 W reg Mazda MX-5, 1.8L petrol, manual – it’s been a real joy to drive over the years. I’ve kept it pretty well maintained, last service was in January with cambelt and waterpump done, and it’s been running smoothly ever since.I’ve had a bit of a bit of a tinker on it – flying Miata cast manifold and downpipe, a new sports catalytic converter, and the ECU is a Megasquirt 2 that’s been professionally mapped. Starts right up whether it’s hot or cold. Runs around 280bhp on the dyno, with a front mount intercooler and Toyota coil packs.
The engine’s got Rx8 injectors, a rear twin caliper setup with hydrobrake, and a paddle clutch that’s smooth – not too heavy, just feels right. I’ve got a Type 2 Torsen diff, Tein street coilovers, and some solid mods like modified front hubs and rack spacer – it’s got more lock than a black cab, which I’ll admit is a bit of a joke.
I’ve also got a Mims 15” alloy wheel set (Toyo proxies all round, fronts are less than 200 miles old), a rear spoiler, and a mohair roof. The front chassis legs were cut and replaced, rear sills and inner rear arches were welded and replaced too – all done properly.
It’s got a proper HPI clear, and I’m not pushing it hard – just a weekend driver with a bit of love and a lot of fun.
It’s currently based in Swadlincote, South Derbyshire. If you’re interested or just want to chat, I’m happy to talk – phone number’s in my message.
Price’s £5,400 – not a lot, but it’s a solid little car with a lot of character and history.
