Pair of vintage 8ft garden obelisks with solid steel and cast iron crowns
Description
I’ve had these two garden obelisks for a while now — they were part of a old family estate in Pencoed, Hendre Road, and I’m finally getting rid of them. They’re a solid pair, about 8 feet tall, made from real flat bar steel and have those classic cast iron crowns bolted on. The detail is quite noticeable — dome-head bolts and square nuts, which is pretty typical for mid-20th century garden fittings. They’re not fancy, but they’ve stood up well over the years. The surface is nicely weathered, so they’ve got that old patina that just adds character. If you’re into climbing plants like roses or clematis, they’d make a great focal point — especially in a formal garden or courtyard.
They’re quite heavy compared to the lightweight, tubular ones you see nowadays, which makes sense — they’re built to last, not just look nice. The original structure is intact, no damage, and they’re perfectly matched, so they’ll look great side by side.
I’ve only got them for collection — they’re massive and awkward to move — so no deliveries, but I’d be happy to arrange a pickup at a time that works for you. Price’s £445.50, and I’m open to reasonable offers. Just thought someone might find them useful, especially if they’re looking for something with real weight and a bit of history.
