I’ve had this 2017 Kia Sorento for a few years now and it’s been a solid workhorse for family trips and weekend getaways. It’s got the 2.2-litre diesel engine and four-wheel drive, which means it handles everything from gravel roads to long drives without any fuss. I’ve done five services, the last one at 74k miles — nothing major, just routine upkeep.

Inside, it’s roomy with seven seats, so it’s been great for kids and guests. The KX-2 trim has some nice touches: dual climate control with an ioniser, Bluetooth so I can keep playing music and take calls hands-free, and heated front and outer rear seats — really helps when it’s cold. Steering wheel also heats up, which is a small but useful thing.

It gets from 0 to 60 in about 9 seconds, not a rocket, but it’s plenty fast for everyday use. Can tow up to 2500kg, which is handy if you’ve got a caravan or trailer. Insurance’s in a low group too, so costs aren’t a big worry.

I’m moving to arthog, Gwynedd, and this one’s going with me. It’s been well looked after and I’m not selling it for a big price — £8,099.10, to be exact — but I’ve kept it running reliably and it’s still in great shape.
