Allen (Hayter) 446 Petrol 18” Cut Hover Mower
Description
This Allen (Hayter) 446 hover mower is one of those machines you just know works well – and it’s been doing so for me, mostly on my own garden, never used for big commercial jobs. I bought it new from a family-run business back in the day, and it’s been sitting in the shed, mostly untouched, with just a few light uses over the years. It’s got the proper cutterbar, not the flexi-blade plastic one – so if you're looking for something solid and reliable, this one’s got you covered. There’s a tiny bit of wear on the body, just a small scuff or two, but nothing that affects how it runs. I actually had it fully serviced a couple of months ago for about £60 – blade balanced and honed, engine flushed and fresh oil put in (Briggs & Stratton), new NGK spark plug, genuine air filter, throttle and OPC cables lubricated. Full tank of stabilised fuel too – that stuff lasts ages, so it’ll be good for another two years if stored right.
The Honda 4.5HP engine starts every time, first try – no fiddling, no drama. And I’ve found it’s actually a great bank cutter too – can handle angles up to 45 degrees. If you're thinking of buying it, I’d be happy to show it to you in person or let you inspect it properly.
It’s been sitting in the Isles of Scilly, England, for a while now, and I’ve only just decided to part with it. Price is fixed at £144 – no offers, no haggling. I prefer cash on collection or bank transfer, no PayPal.
Don’t expect it to be perfect, but it’s been well looked after and works like a charm. If you’re a serious user or just want a dependable mower that doesn’t let you down, this one’s worth a look. Be quick – these things don’t come up often.
