Description

So I’m finally letting go of this old mountain bike I’ve had since 2002/03 — it’s been my go-to for trail days, weekend rides, and even some commuting over the years. I bought it new, and it’s stayed in great shape ever since. Still has all the original parts, which is rare these days — I’ve kept the Shimano Deore drivetrain (9-speed, triple crank), Avid AD3 V-brakes, Manitou front suspension forks, and the original Ritchey headset.

It’s covered less than 500 miles — mostly on roads or light trails — and I’ve done regular maintenance, including keeping the service notes for the Shimano, Avid, and Manitou bits. The frame is Reynolds 525 CroMo steel, 19", which gives it a smooth, responsive feel. The suspension forks (Manitou Six Elite) are solid, no leaks, and the damping’s still adjustable. The Avid brakes are working well, pads are fine, and the handlebars are original — slightly back-swept, with those classic Orange ‘Friction Addiction’ grips (they’re a bit worn but still cool).

The saddle is a WTB Rocket V — super comfy for long rides, though one small area of stitching is fraying (it’s just a tiny bit, and hasn’t gotten worse). The 26” WTB Speed Master 23 rims are solid too — 23mm width, perfect for rim brakes, and I’ve kept the quick-release axles on both wheels so it’s easy to take off and put back on.

I’ve used it a lot over the years — it rides well, stays stable, and feels great on the trail. It’s not flashy, but it’s reliable and fun. I’m really sad to part with it, especially since Orange P7s are now considered classics in mountain biking. It’s not just a bike — it’s a piece of riding history.

I’m based in Bramhope, West Yorkshire, so collection’s easy from there. If that’s not possible, I’d be open to a delivery to Greenford, Northolt, West Drayton, Slough, Uxford, The Chalfonts, Chorleywood, Amersham, Chesham, Bovingdon, Hemel Hempstead, Kings Langley, Watford, Rickmansworth, Ruislip, Pinner, or Harrow — just let me know.

It’s not just sitting in a shed — it’s been ridden, maintained, and loved. If you’re into classic bikes or just want a solid, well-built machine for trail days or casual rides, this one might be for you. I’ve kept it clean and in good order, so it’s ready to go wherever you’d like to ride it.

(Price is £270 — but I won’t say it in the title, because that’s not how I talk about things.)
