Vintage NAD 3020i Integrated Stereo Amplifier
Description
I’ve had this NAD 3020i for years and it’s honestly one of the best-sounding amps I’ve ever used. It’s the 1991 upgraded version of the NAD 3020, which used to be a top pick in Hifi Choice magazine — no. 2 on their list of most important hi-fi components ever. There’s a Wikipedia page for it, and tons of reviews online if you’re curious. It came out in ’91 for £149 — not bad for a 1990s piece, and it still sounds clean and dynamic. I’ve cleaned it inside and out, and it runs without any pops or crackles. There’s a bit of wear, but nothing major — just the kind of signs you’d expect from an amp that’s been used in a real home setup.
It’s got a solid phono stage, two line inputs, tape loops, and main inputs with pre-outs — means you can use it as a preamp or power amp if you want. The power output is 20W per channel into 8 ohms, but it’s a high-current design so it can hit up to 50W into 2 ohms when needed. The sound is tight, detailed, and warm — especially with my Mission 737R speakers, which I’m also selling.
It’s in full working order and still plays like it does from the day I bought it. I’m happy to show it in person — just pop by at my place in Haddenham, East Cambridgeshire. If you're into vintage gear and want something that actually sounds good without being a massive investment, this one’s a solid pick.
P.S. I’ve got a few other amps and components I’ve been meaning to part with — happy to chat about them if you’re interested.
