Zebra Portrait Made from 10,000 Nails
Description
This zebra portrait is wild—really wild. It’s been made from what I’m told is around 10,000 individual nails, hand-placed in a painstaking way. I got it from a relative who passed away, and they said it was done by David Foster, a local artist from St Helen’s. I’ve no idea if that’s true or how much it originally cost—there’s no proof, just a memory. I know it’s not something you see every day, and I can’t vouch for its authenticity, but it’s a real piece of one-of-a-kind art. It’s 100cm tall by 80cm wide and weighs 16kg—very heavy, so it’s got sturdy hooks to hang it. The frame has a few marks, especially on the back, but it’s still solid. I’m not sure what it’s worth—maybe a lot, maybe not—but I’m not pricing it to sell to anyone who just wants to buy it for the price. If you actually care about this kind of art, or just find it fascinating, I’d love to hear from you. Let me know what you’d offer.
It’s currently in Burscough, West Lancashire.
