Description

So I bought two of these Syncwire Type 2 cables a while back — ended up with two, which I didn’t really need, so I’m parting with one. I’ve been using it for a few months now, and honestly, it’s been solid.

It’s a 3m Type 2 to Type 2 cable, 7.2kW, 32A, 1-phase, Mode 3 — works with all EVs and PHEVs that have a Type 2 inlet like the Model S/X/Y/3, ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, I4, Kona, XC40, Enyaq, e-208, I-Pace, ZOE, etc. Doesn’t work with Type 1, CCS1, CHAdeMO or GB/T though — just the right kind of plug.

It’s IP54 rated and TÜV certified, so it’s built to last. I’ve seen it go through 10,000+ plug-in tests and 20,000+ bends without any issues. Can handle temperatures from -35°C to sunny 50°C. There’s over-voltage and short-circuit protection built in — keeps your car safe even if something goes sideways.

The cable has a clear power indicator on the connector so you know when it’s charging properly. I like the bend marker and the two Velcro straps — makes it easy to store, especially in winter. The storage bag is compact and waterproof, and the zipper is strong. I’ve used the included flannel cloth to wipe it down — keeps the connectors clean and dry.

It gets a bit warm when charging at full power, which is normal — I’ve charged my Kona and Niro with it, and it takes about 6.5–7 hours to fully charge depending on the battery size.

One thing to note: if the plug gets wet, it will automatically trigger short-circuit protection until it’s completely dry. I just use a hairdryer to dry it out before plugging in.

I’m in Longhope, Orkney Islands — no hassle, just passing it on to someone who actually needs it. It’s been used once, maybe twice at most, and never had any issues. The other one I’ll keep for my next car.

Price is £49.50 — I’m not charging extra, just giving it away to someone who needs it.
