Volkswagen 800 Special TD SWB 2000 1896cc
Description
So I’ve been keeping this little van for years — it’s a 2000 VW 800 Special TD SWB, and it’s actually got a bit of a story. I bought it back in the day when I was just getting into camping, and it’s seen a fair bit of use since. 142,000 miles on the clock, but it’s been properly maintained — fresh MOT, regular servicing, and still runs smooth. It’s got a rock and roll bed, so you can sleep in it or just use it as a mobile office. There’s cruise control, central heating, solar panels, and a big 110amp leisure battery. I even added a hidden 240v hook-up with a long extension lead and 240v commando plugs — handy if you’re off-grid.
The pop-up has a 4berth layout, and there’s also a roof drive-away awning that can sleep four. There’s a day awning too, and a reverse camera. I’ve got new back brake callipers and thermal curtains — the front screen has a cover too, and there’s touch lighting. The running boards are stainless steel, and there’s a fold-away camping cupboard.
I’ve got a hands-free TV, camping chairs, and a table — all the basics. It’s got a solid service history and I’ve used it for everything from weekend trips to longer getaways.
I’m based in Stourport-on-Severn, Wyre Forest, and it’s just been sitting in the garage with a bit of dust — I’m not looking to sell it, really, but I’m letting it go now because I’ve moved on. It’s a real piece of kit that’s been reliable and fun over the years.
The price is £11,700 — I know it’s not cheap, but it’s what it is. If you’ve got a love for vans and camping, it’s a solid, no-nonsense vehicle with a bit of soul.
