Description

This is my old Volvo FL7 260 6x2 from 1998 – the one I’ve had since new and actually used it a bit for light haulage before I decided to hand it over. It’s a day cab with the TD71 260bhp turbo engine, air-to-air cooled, manual fuel pump, and that 9-speed gearbox. I’ve kept it pretty well maintained over the years, so it’s still solid – low mileage at 276,811 km, and runs reliably.

The body is a Boniface 24ft with 6ft extension, slide-back recovery style, which means it can be pushed back when you need to recover something. It has the Atlas 30008 crane with hook and outriggers, plus front and rear Ramsey winches – useful if you're ever in a tricky spot.

Brakes are drum, drive is single reduction with diff lock, and there’s a rear lift axle. I’ve got the ULEZ-compliant Euro 6 exhaust, roof-mounted beacons and air horns, pop-up sunroof, and a 12v aux socket. Front fog lights are inset in the bumper. The seat is an Isringhausen driver’s seat – a bit of a classic touch.

GVW is 26 tonnes, GTW 36 tonnes. It’s got the original engine air intake and is fully ULEZ compliant. I’ve never had it in a serious breakdown, and it’s been stored in a garage most of the time.

It’s not flashy or for daily use – more of a piece of working history. I’ve only driven it a few times since I last used it, and I’ve kept it clean and well-maintained. If you’re into vintage heavy-duty recovery rigs or just want something with real character, this one’s been sitting in Aberaeron, Ceredigion for a while now.

I’m parting with it at £0.90 – just because it’s been in my family for years and I don’t need it anymore. If you’re looking for something that’s actually been used but still holds up, this might be worth a look.
