Hey, I’m Shaun — I’ve got this 2017 BMW X6 xDrive30d M Sport Auto here, 66 reg, and it’s been through a bit. Front and side damage, starts up and runs, but it’s not in great shape — it’s a salvage vehicle that’s repairable.

I know it sounds a bit grim, but I’ve been keeping it on site in Otley, West Yorkshire, and it’s been sitting there for a while. It’s not a showroom car — it’s a real one that went through an insurance claim, so things like the HPI status might have been clear at one point, but that can change. I’d strongly advise anyone looking at it to come and see it in person.

I’ve been doing this for a few years now, and I’ve seen a lot of these types of cars come through. Most are from insurers, so I’ve got a good eye for what’s out there. I don’t give any warranties — no guarantees on how it’ll perform once you take it off the yard. The engine and drivetrain might start and drive, but that doesn’t mean they’re in perfect shape. It’s not something you’d go on a public road with until it’s fully repaired and passed a proper MOT.

If you’re thinking about buying it, I’d really recommend bringing your own mechanic or engineer to check it out. I’m not giving any kind of assurance — it’s all up to you to verify the damage, the parts, and whether it’s something you’re comfortable with.

The car starts and runs, which is good to know — but don’t assume it’s road-ready. I’ve had people come in, see it, and then realise it’s not what they expected. That’s why I’m saying: come and see it.
