Description

I’ve had this DX7s for a few years now and it’s been a real gem in my setup. It’s a vintage FM synth from the 80s, but not just a copy — it’s an upgraded version of the original DX7 with some real improvements. Got the original cartridge, manual, and a fresh battery so it works right out of the box.

The sound quality is better than the classic DX7, and it’s got more flexibility thanks to enhanced FM features. I love how it lets you shape sounds in ways that feel more natural — especially with the fractional scaling, which gives you much finer control over how the sounds evolve. The interface is also a bit nicer, with clearer controls and an LCD that shows you exactly which voice you’re using.

It has more memory than the standard DX7, which means you can store more voices and parameters. The RAM cartridges work in two formats — standard Yamaha or GMR — and I’ve got the GMR ones, which only play on E!-equipped DX7s (so it’s a bit of a collector’s detail, but useful). Also, there’s a small set of VRC cartridges made specifically for this model — VRC01S, VRC0s, and VRC03S — which add some cool preset sounds.

I’m moving house and it’s just sitting in a corner, so I’m getting rid of it. It’s not flashy or flashy, but it’s a solid piece that actually works well — I’ve used it for a few projects and it’s been reliable. If you’re into vintage synths or just looking for a functional, well-built piece from that era, this one’s a keeper.

It’s in great shape, all the parts are present, and it’s been maintained fairly well. Location is sanquhar, Station Road — I can arrange a drop-off or meet up if needed. Price is £450, but I’m not putting it in the title like that — just thought I’d share it honestly.
