2006 Volkswagen Polo Manual 5-door Hatchback
Description
So, I’ve been keeping this old Polo for years — it’s been a solid workhorse for the family, especially when we were growing. Now that we’ve got a bigger family, we’re looking at something a bit more roomy, and this one’s just about ready to hand over. It’s a 2006 manual hatchback with 1390cc — not flashy, but it’s been well looked after. The interior’s clean and still feels like it’s been used properly, and I’ve kept the AC, radio, and CD player working well. The central control board is still reliable — no issues with the gear or the dashboard.
Aesthetically, it’s not perfect — there’s a small dent on the front passenger side under the wheel, and one of the window knobs is missing on the back passenger door. I’ve got a few photos that show it, so if you’re looking for a spotless car, this might not be the one. But it’s still a solid, trustworthy little car.
It’s ULEZ compliant, and running costs are pretty low — about £21 a month for road tax and £30 for insurance. A full tank gets you roughly 300 miles (city driving might be closer to 250). We’ve actually taken it up to the Highlands a few times — no problems at all.
I’ve had it checked recently by a local garage for MOT — they said a few bits need attention before we go through: fog lights, headlight alignment, registration lights, and the N/S/F ball joint. The quote’s around £250–£400, which is a bit of a stretch given how well it’s held up. I’ve decided to part with it at a fair price, not because it’s not good, but because it’s just time to move on.
It comes with the manual, service history (with receipts), and two sets of keys. Perfect for city use, or if you’ve got a few long drives in mind.
If you’re interested, I’d be happy to chat — or even arrange a test drive. Just let me know. No pressure, just a bit of honest advice from someone who’s actually driven this car for years.
