LDV Convoy 2005 2400cc diesel
Description
I’ve had this LDV Convoy diesel for a few years now – it’s been a solid workhorse, especially when I was doing trips around the countryside. It used to be a crew van, and the last owner stripped out the back seats and put in some insulation and a basic double bed. So it’s been more of a living space than a regular van.The good bits: it drives well, stops well, and has plenty of headroom – you can actually stand up in it. It’s also ULEZ exempt, which I’ve found handy. The interior is roomy and the floor is high enough that it doesn’t feel cramped.
But honestly, it’s not perfect. It’s very rusty – especially around the bodywork. The chassis is fine, but the rust is everywhere. It’s a bit of a pain to start – usually takes at least four tries before it fires up, and I’ve no idea why. And if you fill the fuel tank too high, it leaks. I’ve also noticed rainwater seeps in somewhere under the dashboard, which gets worse when it rains.
I’ve not used it much lately, so it’s not in bad shape, just not quite what I’d use daily. It’s a bit of a mixed bag – but it’s still got some character and I’m just not sure I’ll be using it again soon.
It’s in Banwell, North Somerset if you’re local. I’m not looking for a buyer, just someone who might want it for a bit of a project or just to keep as a spare. I’ve had it for a few years and honestly, I don’t know how long I’ll keep it. If it’s still around after I move, I’ll probably sell it. Price is £900 – just letting it go.
