Ford Transit 2.4tdci Kentucky Estro 2
Description
I’m finally parting with this old but reliable van after years of using it for road trips and motorsports across the UK and Europe. It’s been in my name for about seven years, and honestly, I’ve never had a single major issue with it — it’s just been a solid, dependable companion through all kinds of weather and adventures. The gearbox and differential were both reconditioned a few years back, along with the clutch, manifold, turbo, and vacuum pump — all the bits that make it run smoothly. The ALCO chassis is galvanised and still holds up well, and it’s rear-wheel drive with twin wheels, so no worries about getting stuck in muddy fields. The air suspension is adjustable, which is a real plus for comfort on long drives.
Inside, it’s a proper family-friendly setup. The cab has comfy armchairs and air conditioning, electric mirrors, a reversing camera, and Bluetooth. There’s a king-sized double overcab, two single bunks with windows, blinds, and lighting, and the lounge area can be reconfigured to make another single and another double — that’s seven beds total. Perfect for a family of four or five.
Heating and water systems are top-notch — I’ve never had a winter where it didn’t feel warm or comfortable. The fridge was replaced three years ago for nearly £2000 and is a three-way unit, and the electric charging system was upgraded at over £1000. It runs off solar panels and two large leisure batteries, so you can go off-grid. No need for gas bottles — it’s got refillable LPG tanks, which are cheaper and easier to manage.
The bathroom has a separate shower, electric toilet, sink, and plenty of mirrors. Every window has blackout blinds and fly screens, and the cab has silver screens for better light control. The floor is solid, with removable carpets, and there’s a lot of storage — lockers, shelves, wardrobe. The lower bunk area can be converted into a storage spot for bikes, a BBQ, or whatever you need. There’s a BBQ outlet and a roof light with a turbo vent fan to keep the back cool.
I’ve got a full clean water tank and a large waste tank — great for winter trips. There are two stabilisers underneath too. The van is dry and well-maintained, and the two windows were just replaced — over £1000 worth of work. It has 240V hook-up, USB ports, and a control panel that manages charging, water levels, and pumps.
I’ve kept everything in order — all the paperwork is ready if you want to check things out. There are four seatbelts in the back, and I’ve never had a safety issue. The van has been used mostly for motor racing events around the country and Europe — I’d feel right at home driving it to a track or a remote campsite.
I’ve got a Fiamma awning (I think it’s the ZIP model) with a privacy room, an electric step, and LED outside lighting — I’ve also swapped the marker lights to LEDs.
It’s around 20 years old now, and while it’s not brand-new, it’s been well looked after and has given me loads of memories. A brand-new one would cost over £100k, so this one is a real gem at what it is.
If you’re thinking of checking it out, I’m happy to talk — just give me a call on [Phone number removed]. I’ve been driving it for years and I know it’s reliable. No inspections needed — just ask if you want to see it.
This van isn’t just a vehicle — it’s a piece of my journey. And honestly, I’d still go on a trip in it if I had the chance.
