1996 TVR Chimaera 4.3 Convertible 2dr Petrol Manual
Description
So, I’ve had this 1996 TVR Chimaera for a few years now, and honestly, it’s been one of the most rewarding things I’ve owned. It’s a proper classic — not flashy, not overdone, just pure TVR spirit.Only 11k miles, three original owners, and it’s been fully garaged every single time. I’ve had it checked out by a local TVR specialist recently — fresh MOT done, and they’re happy with it. The car’s in great shape, and the original Cooper Green paint with tan interior and that special order tan/green leather dashboard is exactly how it came off the production line.
The only tweaks were a Thatcham alarm, an immobiliser, and fixing that old “hot start” electrical issue — which made it much more reliable without compromising the originality. Everything else is 100% original.
Inside, the leather is still soft, the seats are comfortable, and the electric mirrors and windows make it easy to use. Alloy wheels? Yeah, they’re there — not just for looks, they actually help with handling.
It’s got a 240 bhp engine — that’s not just a number, it’s the kind of power that makes you feel alive when you’re driving it. Manual gearbox too, so you get that hands-on connection.
Next MOT is due 25/03/2025, and there’s a full service history on file. I’ve kept it well maintained, and it’s never been driven hard — just enjoyed.
I’ve only recently moved it to Rutland, England, so if you’re local or nearby, I can give you a proper look. If you’re further away, I can arrange delivery — just let me know.
Price is £17,995.50, which feels fair given the history and condition. I’d love to chat if you’re interested — just call me before you come over, because not all cars are on site.
It’s not just a car — it’s a piece of driving history. If you’ve ever wanted to drive something that feels like it was built for fun, this one’s for you.
