BMW 120d SE Convertible 2009
Description
So, I’ve had this 2009 BMW 120d SE Convertible for a few years now, and it’s been a solid companion through all sorts of weather and road types. It’s not flashy, but it’s reliable — 93k miles, mostly gentle use, and I’ve kept it well maintained. MOT’s valid until June 1st, 2 as far as I know, and it’s had a near-full service history.I’ve done a recent oil and filter change, plus front brake pads, rear callipers, and the brake wear sensor was replaced. Tyres are fine — just a bit of advice on the latest MOT about the front discs being slightly lipped (but pads are fresh, so that’s not a big deal).
It’s got electric windows, mirrors, roof, alloy wheels, cold air-con and dual climate control. Leather seats, front heated, good roof — no leaks or holes. Two working remote keys, service book and loads of receipts. HPI is clear, which I’m happy about.
There’s a couple of small dents and scrapes — nothing serious.
Now, here’s the thing: it started making a strange howling noise today, like a whine when you shift into first gear. At first, I thought it was just a bit of a grind, but once I tried putting it in second first, then first — it didn’t happen. So I’m guessing it’s a bit of a drivetrain issue, maybe something with the turbo intake or wastegate? It doesn’t smoke, no warning lights on, and hasn’t been driven since.
I’ve been looking at it from a mechanical point of view, and if you’re into fixing cars, this could be a fun project. Parts are cheap on eBay, so if you’re up for a bit of DIY, it’s a real bargain.
I’m not giving it away — no, I’m not. No test drives, and I can’t really risk it being driven without a proper check. If you’re mechanically minded and don’t mind the howling noise (or can fix it), it’s worth a look.
Price is £1,075.50 — I’ve been thinking about it, so I’m not expecting crazy offers. If you’re serious, I can send a video showing the noise and also do a walkaround if you want.
No more “just checking” — I’m not here to waste time. If you’re actually interested, come see it before you offer. Just don’t be a time-waster.
