2012 Volkswagen Scirocco Coupe 2.0 TDI
Description
So, I’ve had this 2012 VW Scirocco for a few years now and I’m looking to swap it for something a bit more open-top — a convertible, ideally a BMW Z4 or Audi TT or A5, or maybe even a 3 Series. But if nothing like that comes up, I’m happy to try anything else — just let me know what you’ve got. It’s a 2.0 TDI with 183k miles, manual gearbox, and the engine’s been remapped with a stage 1 upgrade. I’ve had it through a few service checks, and the MOT is due at the end of September — I’ll get it done if I keep it.
Inside, it’s got leather seats, Apple/Android connectivity, auto headlights, auto wipers, cruise control, and I believe the front speakers were upgraded. There’s also a ramair induction kit, back box deleted, and wires in the back for a subwoofer. I’ve got LED interior lighting and hill assist.
I’ve done a fair bit of maintenance since I got it: oil and filter 2k miles ago, cleaned and re-oiled the air filter, full disc and pad replacement, fuel filter and glow plugs changed two weeks ago, and a carbon clean done on the 23rd of July.
It runs pretty efficiently — around 45–50 mpg on normal drives, and 65–70 on longer runs. Road tax is just £35 a year, so it’s a real low-cost car to keep going.
The body’s in great shape for the age and mileage — just a bit of age-related wear, some lacquer peeling, and the alloys could do with a bit of refinishing if you want them spotless.
One thing: the comfort/sport button used to work, but the last owner fitted coilovers and it’s now disabled — the light flashes when you press it. The stop-start function doesn’t work either — I think it’s a sensor (around £40 on eBay if you want to fix it). And the dash doesn’t show any lights — I’m not sure if it’s a wiring issue or just a small fault.
I’ve got loads of service records and maintenance notes tucked away — just in case.
I’m not in a hurry at all. Honestly, I just want a convertible — that’s the real draw here. If you’ve got something that fits, I’d love to hear about it. Otherwise, I’m happy to keep it and maybe sell it down the line.
Let me know if you’ve got any questions — happy to chat!
