AKAI GX-4000DB Reel to Reel Tape Recorder with 14 tapes and 3 take up reels

So I’m finally getting rid of this old AKAI GX-4000DB reel-to-reel recorder after moving house to Shetland, Scotland. It’s a twin-speed model with a speed capstan, Dolby NR, and EQ – not the flashiest, but it actually works well for tape recordings. I’ve kept it in good shape over the years, mostly because I used it for some personal projects and a few demo sessions.

It comes with 14 seven-inch tapes – two of them are still sealed, haven’t even been opened yet. Also included are three take-up reels. Those are a bit of a pain to find these days, so I’m happy to include them.

The original plastic dust cover is still with it – broken in a few places, honestly, thanks to the previous removal team (they were just… not careful). I’ve glued it back together and it’s still useful for keeping the internals dust-free. I can send it if you want, but I’m not keen because the whole thing weighs a solid 25–30kg with the tapes, and I don’t trust couriers to handle it properly.
