Vintage French Louis XV Oak Carved Double Bed Frame
Description
I’ve got this old French Louis XV style oak bed frame sitting in my garage in Wigton, Cumberland — it’s one of those pieces that just feels timeless. It’s solid oak, with a lovely figured grain showing in the headboard, sides, and footboard. The curves are gentle but intentional, and there’s a bit of patina that gives it that lived-in, authentic feel.I’ve taken it apart and cleaned it properly — wiped down, hand-oiled, and checked for any issues. There are a few tiny chips and scratches, mostly from years of being moved around and stored, but nothing that affects how it works. No structural problems, just the kind of wear you’d expect from a piece that’s been used and cherished.
It’s not ready to go straight into a bedroom — you’ll need either a slat base or a divan to support the mattress. It fits an EU double mattress up to 140cm in size. The measurements are: length 210cm, headboard 110cm, footboard 77cm, width 154cm.
I picked it up from a vintage dealer in France a few months ago and brought it back to Wigton. It’s been stored carefully and is now ready to assemble — I’ve even dismantled it so it’s easy to move and set up.
I’ve been working with second-hand furniture since 2018 — mostly helping people find pieces that have soul, not just style. I’ve ended up supplying a few film sets and hotels too, because people love the character these things bring.
If you’re thinking about it, I’d be happy to chat — just let me know. No hard sells, just real talk about what it is and what it means.
P.S. I’ve got a few more French-style beds and furniture pieces if you’re interested — I’ll share those if you want.
*(Note: As with any second-hand item, there may be slight wear — it’s not brand new, but it’s fully functional and looks great for the right space.)*
