Got this old Ford KA from 2011, red one, and I’ve been driving it for years. It’s a solid 3-door hatchback with the ZETEC engine, 1242cc, and it’s got a manual gearbox — perfect for someone who doesn’t want a lot of tech fuss. I’ve had it for a while now, and I’ve put in a fair bit of work on it: new front tyres, front pads, rear shoes, handbrake cable, and even the ABS sensors were replaced recently. The stop-start system and power steering work fine, and the electric windows and mirrors are all good. Air con’s a bit cold in winter, but it still kicks in when needed. It’s had a full 12-month MOT and I’ve been paying £35 a year for tax — that’s been consistent. I’ve also had it with full insurance and tax running smoothly. I’m actually looking to hand it over to a new driver — someone who just wants a reliable, no-nonsense little car. The cat-back exhaust was done a while back, and it’s been running and driving well ever since. I’m based in Peebles, Scottish Borders, and it’s been parked in a garage most of the time — so it’s clean and safe. I’m thinking of selling it because I’ve been looking at something else, but if you’re a new driver and want something simple and dependable, this one might just fit.
