2012 Honda Civic 1.8 i-Vtec SE 5-door hatch
Description
So I’ve been looking for a car that’s reliable, practical, and actually fun to drive on the motorways — especially when heading up to Cumbria — and this one just clicked. After months of hunting, I finally found it.It’s a 2012 Honda Civic 1.8 i-Vtec SE, 5-door hatch, 6-speed manual, with 70,000 miles and a full service history (12 stamps). No timing belt — it’s a chain, which I’ve been happy with. The V5C has my name and address on it, and it’s been through Marshalls Honda originally. I bought it from a private seller after the first owner (a family member) passed it on, so even though I’m technically the 4th owner, it’s really just one family plus me. I’ve got the original order form from Marshalls and all the service invoices — both for the dad and the daughter — so the history is solid. The dealer plates are still on it. HPI is clean, and it’s ULEZ compliant.
Fuel economy is actually pretty good — especially in 6th gear — and it has an eco button for when you want to go even further. Last serviced in May, MOT runs until the end of February 2026.
Now, I know it’s not perfect — the air conditioning is a bit sluggish and probably just needs a re-gas. But everything else works like a dream. Power steering, remote central locking, electric windows (front and back), with a lock button to stop kids from opening the back seats when they’re not around. Reversing camera, adjustable steering column (reach and rake), driver’s seat height adjuster, electric mirrors, CD radio with steering wheel controls, digital dash display, ABS brakes (discs all around), side and curtain airbags, headlamp levelling, switchable passenger airbag, Isofix for child seats, electric stability control, alloy wheels with locking nuts.
There’s a central storage console with a 12V socket, USB, and auxiliary — and both sun visors have vanity mirrors with lighting. If you’ve got a dashcam, you can just leave it plugged in — it turns off when the engine’s off, so no battery drain.
I had it checked over properly by R G Services — new battery, full oil service, wheels taken off, hubs and discs bagged and taped, and all suspension parts were sprayed with Lanogard. The 2024 MOT had no real issues — just some stuff in the back seats.
The car’s in excellent condition otherwise — no smoke, no marks on the seats, upholstery looks like new, paintwork is near mint, no rust or dents. Road tax is £195 a year, which I pay monthly at £17.06.
It comes with two keys — both with remote — plus a locking wheel nut key, Honda wallet (handbook, owner’s manual, build sheet, service records, past MOTs), and a full set of genuine Honda carpet mats.
I’m selling it because the house in Cumbria is finally sold — no need for a bigger car anymore. I’ve lived with it for years, driven it a lot, and never had any major issues. If you’ve got any questions, just message me — happy to go over anything.
It’s now in Shanklin, Isle of Wight.
