Raleigh Record Sprint Vintage Bicycle
Description
Got this old Raleigh Record Sprint sitting in my garage in Nelson, Borough of Pendle — it’s a real classic from the mid-80s. The frame’s Reynolds 501 steel, double-butted and chrome-moly, which I’ve always liked because it’s solid and light. It’s a 54cm frame, so it’s not too big or too small for a regular rider. It’s got that signature gold detailing, which I remember loving back in the day — the bike looks like it’s straight out of a 1980s cycling magazine. Wheels are 700c, and the components are a mix of Weinmann brakes, Sugino GT crankset, and Shimano SIS derailleurs. Brakes are Weinmann alloy calipers, which work fine, though they’re not the most modern.
I’ve got the Giro helmet and a Kryptonite lock on it too — both still in good shape. The tyres are flat, but no damage at all — just needs a pump. I don’t have one to hand right now, so I’m not going to fix it or replace the tyres.
It’s been sitting for a couple of years, mostly just collecting dust, but it’s still in decent condition. The frame has a bit of a sloping fork crown and Gipiemme forged ends — that’s what made the Record Sprint stand out back then.
I’m not selling it to get cash — I just needed to get it out of the garage and out of my way. If you’re into vintage bikes and remember the 80s road racing vibe, this one might be a bit of a nostalgic trip down memory lane. Price is £180, but I’m not listing it like that — just saying it’s what I’m offering. Let me know if you’re interested, I’ll be happy to chat.
