VINTAGE FRENCH COPPER KITCHEN UTENSIL RACK WITH COQ DESIGN
Description
I’ve been holding onto this one for years — it’s part of a big hoard of French vintage kitchen stuff I’ve collected over the years, and now I just don’t have space anymore. This is a vintage French copper kitchen rack with a coq (rooster) design, standing on a branch — it’s one of those classic country kitchen pieces. I got it from a vide maison in Bethune, in the Nord region, and the owner said it dates back to around the 1970s. It was used in a farmhouse kitchen in the Dordogne before they moved out.
It’s a solid hanging rack with a drip tray — the copper is thick, still bright, and has a nice patina. A bit worn and there’s some scratches and staining, which is totally normal for something that’s seen years of use. The coq is nicely detailed with repousse work (pressed from behind) and there’s a brass rail with copper rivets — all still secure. The backplate has a little flex, but nothing’s broken or loose. The drip tray is stained a bit but intact, no holes.
No utensils or extras come with it — any photos are just for scale. I can post it to Frimley, Surrey Heath, for £7.99 if you pay by bank transfer. Only accept cash on collection or bank transfer — no PayPal, cards, or courier payments.
It’s still functional and looks great as a decorative piece. Measuring about 49cm tall, 37cm long, and 9cm deep — weighs around 1.7kg. The copper is sound, no holes, just a little worn.
I’m just getting rid of it because the cupboard’s full now. If you’re into vintage French kitchen stuff, this one’s a real gem — and honestly, it’s one of the more interesting pieces in the collection. Just wanted to share it before it goes to a new home.
