This is a silver halfcrown from Charles I’s reign, minted in Newark during the siege year of 1646. It’s a piece of siege money, with the large crown date, C R in the field and XXX below. The reverse shows OBS :/NEWARK/I646. I’ve seen it at auctions where it’s going for around £2,350, but I’m not going that high. I’m just passing it on — if you're interested, I’ll make you an offer.
