Description

So, I’ve got this 1991 Yamaha XS650 flat tracker sitting in my garage in ashford-surrey, 19, and I’m putting it up for auction next month. It’s a proper classic — the kind of bike that gets you noticed when you ride it, especially with that iconic Kenny Roberts Speedblock paint.

It’s been fully rebuilt into a flat track machine, with solid work and good parts — not some patchwork job, just a clean, well-executed transformation. The engine and gearbox are unit construction, which was pretty advanced for its time, and it’s a 653cc parallel twin with a 5-speed. I’ve checked the frame number (447118702) and it’s all in order.

The original registration was LSF603N, and it comes with the full UK V5 — just one key, so it’s ready to go if you want to take it out. The odometer’s missing, but that’s not a big deal. The MOT expired a while back — it was a daylight-only one because it didn’t have front lights or indicators, which makes sense for a flat tracker.

It’s in great shape overall, looks sharp, and I’ve actually spent a bit of time making sure it’s properly detailed. The only thing is, it’s not road legal in its current state, so if you’re thinking of using it on public roads, you’ll need to sort that out.

I’m not selling it because I need cash — it’s just something I’ve had for years and wanted to get rid of. It’s not a daily rider, but it’s a solid piece of kit with a real history. The auction is on 5th September 2025, and I’ll be there to answer any questions.

If you’re into classic bikes and the kind of old-school racing vibe, this one’s a real keeper. Just keep in mind, it’s not coming with a warranty, and the price is going to be around £3,600 after all the fees — but I don’t expect anyone to jump in just because of the price, more because of what it represents.

I’ll be at the Manor Park Classics auction, and if you’re interested, you can pop by or check out the viewing days before. No pressure, just a bike that’s been well looked after and has a real story behind it.
