Akai 4000DS Mk II

Description

I’ve had this Akai 4000DS Mk II in my loft for thirty years, tucked away in its original box. It’s always been a bit of a keepsake — the kind of thing that felt like part of the furniture back when I was making music in the Seventies. Now that we’re moving to powys, Wales, I’m sorting through the clutter and decided to part with it.

I’ve gone through the tapes and copied everything to digital — just to make sure it’s still working. I’m including five reels of tape, all with some recordings still on them. Mostly it’s stuff from bands I was in back then, a bit rough around the edges, but full of the kind of energy that felt real at the time.

It’s not flashy, and it’s not in great shape, but it’s a piece of my music history. If you’ve got a love for analog gear or just want to hear what it sounded like back in the day, I’d be happy to share it.
