Daihatsu Hijet Camper Van 2000 Manual 1295cc
Description
So, I’ve got this old Daihatsu Hijet camper van I’ve been using for a few years now — it’s been a real gem for weekend getaways and just hanging out in the countryside. It’s a 2000 model, manual, 1295cc, and honestly, it’s been well looked after. Before I got it, it had sat in a barn for two years — so no major rust, just a bit of old-timey wear. I’ve had it resprayed since, and it’s still in pretty good shape, though there’s a small scratch on the front (you can see it in the photos).
Inside, it’s got all the camping basics: leisure battery, charger, AC hook-up, sockets, USB ports, a tap and sink, and speakers both in the front and back. I’ve even built a foldable bed in the back so it’s ready to go whenever I want. Plenty of storage too — it’s not a luxury van, but it does what it needs to.
It’s got a roof rack and a side awning, so you can actually take it out and set up somewhere nice.
A few small things to note: the speedometer stopped working a while ago, so I’ve been using a GPS one — works fine and doesn’t affect anything. Not an MOT issue. One of the side doors is a bit sticky, so it’s not super easy to open, but it still opens.
I’ve had it tax and MOTed for £1700 — it’s not perfect, but it’s reliable and has a real charm. It’s currently parked at riding-mill, Dene Close, so if you’re in the area or planning a trip, it’s not too far. I’m not selling it just to get cash — I’ve been using it for my own camping trips, and I’d love to pass it on to someone who’ll appreciate it.
Let me know if you’re interested — happy to show it around or chat about it.
