Rare Epiphone By Gibson Sheraton 1986 Samick Factory Headstock
Description
I’ve been playing this guitar for years and honestly, it’s one of those instruments that just feels alive. It’s a rare 1986 Epiphone by Gibson Sheraton, made at the Samick factory in Korea — one of the first runs when Gibson shifted production over there. The headstock has that original "Epiphone By Gibson" inlay, which is a real signature detail of that early batch. It’s not perfect — you can see the wear on the gold hardware, a little pitting, and the finish has some cracks and minor wear. That’s exactly what you’d expect from a guitar this age. The gold parts are original, and the way they’ve aged just adds to its character.
This one’s got a laminate maple body and top, mahogany center block, maple neck with rosewood fretboard. Alnico Classic humbuckers, Tune-O-Matic bridge with a stopbar tailpiece — classic Sheraton setup. It’s slightly heavier than newer models, and that weight shows in the tone. The sound is warm, deep, and has that gritty blues edge — I remember playing it with a bit of overdrive and it just cuts through like a wall of sound, kind of like how Oasis used to do it.
I’ve played it through a lot of gigs and session work over the years, and it’s never let me down. The original hard shell case is still with it, and everything’s in great shape.
I’m based in Melbourne, King’s Newton, and it’s a collection piece — no swaps, no haggling. If you’re serious and have time, feel free to arrange a test play. Delivery’s possible if you’re not too far from Craigavon, but otherwise it’s just going to stay where it is.
No time wasters. Just a guitar I’ve lived with and love.
