Description

I’ve been working on my BMW for a few years now, mostly tinkering with the infotainment and software. Recently, I did a full Apple CarPlay setup on my 2017+ model — got it working smoothly with the idrive 6 nav, and even added the OEM speed limit info and map updates.

It’s not just CarPlay though — I’ve done a few flashes for the idrive 4 to 6, including some performance tweaks for the GTS M2/M3/M4. Also got the Alpina gearbox and XHP flash running, which makes a real difference in how the car handles shifts.

The system now has Bluetooth audio, video in motion, and even pre-loaded USB music videos (700+ tracks). I can mirror Android screens and use the sat nav with real-time updates.

I’ve been doing this work mostly on older BMWs (1/2/3 series, X1/X2), but it’s definitely doable on newer models too. The setup is clean, no fiddly hacks — just genuine OEM software.

I’ve only done this on my own car, so I’m not selling it, but I’m happy to share the process if you’re curious. I’ve got a few notes and steps saved up — follow my Instagram @xenon_vision_tints to see what I’ve done before.

If you're in Wells-next-the-sea, North Norfolk and have a BMW with a CarPlay setup you'd like to get going, I can help with a bit of a walk-through. Price is £27 — not a huge deal, just what it takes to get it running right.

(All this is just me doing it on my own car, not a commercial service.)
