Cannandle CAAD5 custom restomod road bike
Description
This is a massive 63cm Cannondale CAAD5 restomod from the early 2000s — made in the USA, one of the rarest sizes ever produced. I’ve been riding it for years and it’s been a solid workhorse, especially for someone over 6ft. The frame’s alloy, with Slice Ultra carbon forks, is in great shape for its age — just a bit of paint bubbling and flaking, which you’d expect from that era. The wheels are a matching set of Coda/Mavic alloy Q/R 700c wheels from the same time, still in excellent condition. I’ve swapped in new Continental Ultra Race 25mm tyres for a bit more grip and comfort. The groupset is a full Sram Rival Double Tap 22-speed with a 50/34 chainset and a Shimano Ultegra CS800 11-speed cassette — it’s actually a special series cassette built to fit 10-speed freehubs, which makes it a bit of a unique fit. The bottom gear’s super low, so it’s really easy to climb hills. Everything else — seatpost, handlebars, Selle Italia SLR saddle, and red Look Keo pedals — is all in good shape. I’ve had it rebuilt with new cables and bar tape, so it’s clean and ready to ride.
It’s not flashy, but it’s solid, reliable, and one of the best examples of that vintage model I’ve ever seen. I’ve kept it well cared for and it’s been a real joy to ride over the years. Currently based in henfield, Horsham — so if you're local or nearby, feel free to pop by. Price is £315, but I'm not going to say it out loud — just ask if you’re interested.
