2009 Volkswagen Golf 1.6 FSI S Hatchback 5dr Petrol Manual
Description
So, I’ve had this 2009 Golf for a few years now — it’s been through three owners, and honestly, it’s held up really well. It’s a 1.6 FSI petrol manual, black finish, and it’s got that classic Golf charm — clean lines, good handling, and not too flashy but definitely reliable. The engine’s a solid 1.6 litre, manual gearbox, and it gets you from 0 to 60 in about 11.3 seconds — not a rocket, but it’s got enough punch for everyday driving. Top speed’s around 117 mph, which is fine if you’re not planning on going full speed on the motorway.
It’s a five-door hatchback, so easy to get in and out of, especially with kids or when you’ve got a load of stuff. I’ve driven it a fair bit — over 136,000 miles — and it’s always been well looked after. No major issues, just regular servicing and a few good mechanics over the years.
It runs on 39.8 mpg, which is decent for a petrol car, and it’s ULEZ compliant, so no problems in London or other low-emission zones. Road tax is £315 a year, and insurance group is 13 — not expensive at all.
It’s got central locking, power steering, and the V5 registration is still in order. Safety features like pretensioners are also there — nothing fancy, but it’s safe for the family.
I’ve been living in Chulmleigh, North Devon, and it’s been a solid home base. I’m not looking to sell it for a big profit — just getting rid of it after a few years of regular use. It’s been a good companion, and I’m happy to hand it over to someone who’ll use it the same way.
If you’re thinking about a reliable, no-nonsense hatchback that doesn’t need much fuss — this one’s been there, done that. Let me know if you’d like to see it. I’ll arrange a time to meet up.
