Description

So, I’ve got this 1995 Rover 620 TI that’s been through a bit of a transformation. It’s not just a regular road car – it’s been fully modified in the style of BTCC race cars from the day. I built it myself, mostly out of love for the sport and the feel of a proper track machine.

The body’s been stripped down: solid shell, full roll cage, sunroof gone, quick-release bumpers, plastic windows removed, cold air feed, and all the lights tweaked. It’s got a full instrument cluster and twin Monaco S seats with full harnesses – you know, for safety and comfort on long runs.

Engine’s a new forged unit – polished, balanced, with a 8:1 compression ratio. Crank and rods are forged, ARP bottom end bolts, new pistons, rebuilt cylinder head with MLS head gasket. All seals, gaskets, and internals are new. The block was reworked, and it’s got a Cosworth-based exhaust, rear box for loading, and a multi-core cooling system with a full-width alloy radiator.

It’s got a T3/4 water-cooled turbo with manual boost control, front-mounted intercooler with water spray, fuel regulator, and a boot-mounted swirlpot. Alloy catch tank, close-ratio gearbox with a Torsen LSD and metal-caged bearings. I’ve also got a full racing suspension – coilovers, adjustable camber arms, quick steer 2:1 steering column, and only 0.8 turns to full lock.

Brakes are upgraded too – front brakes are Honda MB6 style, Bosch pads, Mtec drilled and slotted discs, rebuilt calipers, new master cylinder, and a brake bias system. I’ve even got braid hoses and an internal brake line setup.

It’s got a manual in-car brake bias, ABS deleted, and all the lines are internal. I’ve kept it mostly as-is, so it’s still road legal with a daytime running light.

I’ve had it running for a while now – it’s not just a static piece of kit. It’s been used, tuned, and driven. The build is documented, and the engine has a full history.

I’ve got a spare 620 TI T16 turbo engine and a TI box too – just in case. And three sets of wheels, different sizes and tyres.

The whole thing is worth a bit – I’m thinking £5,395.50 – but I don’t want to dismantle it unless I have to. So if you’re into classic modified track cars, and you’ve got a real interest in what’s under the skin, I’d love to hear from you.

No hard feelings if you’re just passing through. Just thought I’d share it.

It’s in Buckley, Flintshire.
