Description

I’ve had this Hohner Super L’Organla IV accordion since I was a kid—my dad bought it in the 1970s and it’s been in our family ever since. It’s a real antique, from the 1920s, and still works pretty well. The mother of pearl finish is beautiful, though a bit faded over the decades. It’s got 41 piano-style keys on the treble side, 120 bass keys in six rows, and the treble switches are still functional. The panel is brass with a nickel plating and a floral pattern, backed by gauze—looks solid even if it’s a bit worn. The bellows have metal corner protectors, which is nice for keeping it from scuffing.

The leather straps are top-notch for their time, still hold up, but have some wear from years of use. It’s in its original hard shell case—black fibre, felt-lined, with metal hinges and a lock (no key, so it’s not a big deal). The case still opens and closes, but it’s got some age-related marks.

It’s not perfect—definitely needs a bit of cleaning and maintenance to get it back to top form. I’m not looking to sell it to someone who wants to play it daily, more like someone who appreciates the history and might just take it out now and then. It’s been in the same place in Shipley, Saltaire, for decades. I’m letting it go because I’m moving and just don’t have the space anymore. Price is £126—fair for what it is, honestly.
