I’ve got these two Quechua single sleeping bags — they’re not exactly luxury, but they’re kind of oddly satisfying in a weird way. I bought them a while back for camping trips, mostly just to see how they’d perform in the cold. Turns out, they’re basically designed to make you feel like you’re wrapped in a tight, fluffy hug that’s also technically a bit too snug.

The fabric’s not super fancy — it’s the same kind of synthetic stuff you’d find in cheap windbreakers — but it holds heat pretty well, and the zipper’s pretty solid, though I’ve noticed it’s not quite as smooth as it could be. The whole thing rolls up into a neat little cylinder, which is handy if you’re trying to squeeze it into a car boot or a cupboard.

I’ve used them a few times, mostly just on chilly nights when I wanted to feel like I was sleeping in a cocoon. The thing is, you don’t actually sleep on a surface — you sleep *on* yourself. So yeah, it’s kind of a full-circle experience where you’re both the guest and the furniture.

I’m taking them out of my collection in Purfleet, London Road, because I’ve moved and just don’t need them anymore. They’re in pretty good shape, just not quite as cozy as I hoped. If you’ve ever tried a sleeping bag that makes you feel like you’re being gently restrained by velvet — but in reality, it’s just nylon and a bit of stubbornness — then you might get a chuckle out of this.

They’re worth a look if you’re into the slightly absurd side of camping gear. I’ve got them for £9 — not a lot, but I’m not holding out much hope for them to be useful beyond that.
