2012 Volkswagen Golf SE Tech TDI BlueMotion DSG Convertible
Description
So, I’ve been keeping this car for a few years now — it’s a 2012 Golf SE Tech TDI BlueMotion DSG convertible, and I’m finally putting it on the market. It’s not flashy, but it’s actually a solid little car with a great mix of practicality and fun.The engine’s a 2.0-litre TDI diesel, which gives it around 140 PS and a decent 0–100 km/h time of about 9.9 seconds. Top speed’s close to 208 km/h, which isn’t too shabby for a compact convertible. The BlueMotion tech helps it hit around 62.8 mpg in UK testing, and CO2 emissions are about 119 g/km — so it’s fairly efficient for a diesel.
It’s packed with features you’d expect from a Golf: air conditioning, alloy wheels, Bluetooth, cruise control, heated mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, hill-start assist, and a CD/MP3 system. Safety stuff is solid too — ABS, airbags, ISOFIX points, traction control, and ESP. The cabin feels well-built, and the car handles well whether you're zipping through the city or on a long motorway drive.
I’ve had it well maintained over the years. The timing belt was replaced at 64,000 miles, and I’ve kept it properly serviced. It’s got a full bookpack and part service history, plus a 12-month MOT and a 3-month warranty. I’ve also got a 12-month breakdown cover through the AA — that’s a bonus for anyone who’s not sure about driving it long distances.
That said, it’s a known thing — the DSG gearbox, especially on older models, can occasionally give a bit of a hiccup. I’ve kept it well looked after, and the issues haven’t been too bad, but if you’re serious about long-term reliability, it’s worth knowing about.
I’m based in Axminster, East Devon, so if you’re local or planning to drive it around the south of England, it’s not too far. I’ve also got a walk-around video, and I can arrange a 5-day drive-away insurance if you want — it’s around £44.99, which is pretty reasonable.
I’m not selling it for a lot of money — £4,041 is what it’s at — but I’m happy to take a look or even drive it around if you’re interested. I’ve had a few people ask about it, and honestly, it’s a car that just works.
If you’re looking for something that’s a bit more open than a hatchback but still practical, this might be worth a look. No fancy marketing — just a real car, with real use, and I’m happy to chat if you want to see it.
Let me know if you’d like to arrange a viewing or have a quick chat. I’m always up for it.
