Description

Got this djembe a long time ago – around 2006 – from Lamin Jassey, who was a real pro and did a lot of the work himself. It’s hand-carved from one piece of wood, with an elephant carved into it and a tree background. The head’s animal skin, tuned with rope, and it’s been well cared for. The tone is solid – you can hear the deep bass and the bright rim tone clearly. It’s about 25.5 inches tall, 13 inches wide, and weighs just under 15 pounds. The shell was imported from Africa, assembled in Leeds. I’ve kept it in good shape, never played it much but it’s always been a nice piece to have around. Also included is a copy of John Marshall’s Hand Drums book. It’s in the back of the garage in Ormskirk, West Lancashire – only collecting, so no shipping. Price is £76.50.
