This old oak chest is one of those pieces that just feels lived-in and honest. It’s got three solid oak front panels, a rich, deep patina from years of use, and that classic iron keyhole escutcheon—though I don’t have the key anymore. The top is made from a plank, which gives it that slightly worn, authentic look you get when something’s been around for decades. There’s a small split in the top, and some scratches and surface marks, all of which are totally normal for an antique like this. It’s sturdy as a rock, and I’ve been keeping it in my Waltham, Canterbury home for years—used it as a bed foot storage piece, and now I’m thinking about giving it to someone who wants something with character.
