Description

I’ve got this old Victorian-style hall robe made by Merryweather & Sons — it’s solid oak and has some lovely hand-carved details. It’s got a central hanging rail, a shelf above for hats and scarves, and a single wide door for easy access. I bought it a while back and it’s been sitting neatly in a corner of my house in west-wickham, South Cambridgeshire, where it’s been collecting dust. It’s quite heavy — about 199cm high, 103cm wide, and 43cm deep — so it’s not the usual wardrobe size, which actually works well for a small alcove. The oak is a bit worn now, but it’s solid and could really benefit from a bit of a refresh. I’ve been thinking about giving it a new life — maybe a bit of paint or a fresh finish — and it’s definitely something that could look great with a bit of upcycling. It’s not something I’m using every day, but I’d love to find someone who’d be interested in taking it on as a project. It’s worth about £112.50 if you're curious, but I’m just sharing it with a real person who might appreciate it.
