Description

So I’ve been keeping this old Renault Trafic for a few months now — bought it in February after some life changes, and it’s been my daily commuter to work only. Not much use as a work van, just a few dump runs here and there.

It’s got 114k miles and I had it serviced recently — oil, filters, new front brake discs and pads. It’s tidy for its age, paint’s faded and worn in a few places, some scratches, and both quarter panels have dents. But no major rust, just a bit of wear. There’s a knock on the front right suspension — think it’s either a lower ball joint or anti-roll bar mount — not a big deal, just a bit noisy when turning. At certain revs it’s a bit smokey, but nothing serious.

Back is ply-lined, and the ABS light came on last week — dashboard service light is on too. Starts every time, no issues, and I’ve noticed it runs on a couple of times after turning off, but I just stall it and it shuts down in minutes — no real problem. I was told a new ignition switch is about £15 and a DIY swap, which I might do if I ever need to. I’ve got a few spares from when I bought it — an alternator and some rear calipers, can’t remember exactly which.

It’s 21 years old, runs well, good fuel economy, good tyres, and MOT until early November. I’ve been using it daily, so it’s been well looked after.

I’m not selling it for the money — I’ve actually bought another van for £1000 ono, so this one’s going to be a spare. It’s not flashy, not perfect, but it’s reliable and works. Just a bit of character, a bit of age, but it’s been solid. If you’re looking for a no-frills, reliable van that’s been used but not abused — this might be something. No guarantees on older stuff, just as it is.
